They terrified everyone who was not lucky enough to encounter them during the battle: they growled, rushed at opponents without chain mail and sometimes without weapons at all, biting their shields in a rage, and most importantly, they did not feel pain and often won victories in battles. Warriors-berserkers, as if turning into some kind of wild animals, gave life to many myths and legends, and through the prism of past centuries they themselves are seen as semi-mythical characters.
